KHAN EL KHALILI BAZAAR
When you think about Egypt, the first thing that comes to mind are pyramids because they are always associated with the ancient world of Egypt. However, the bazaar is also a perfect example of ancient times.
Located in the Islamic district in Cairo, it initially served for different purposes than it does today.
The bazaar was mausoleum for the Fatimid royal family as well as part of the Great Eastern Fatimid Palace.
Today, Khan El Khalili Bazaar is a place for local vendors. It is famous for clothing, traditional jewelers, spices and perfumes. It is a perfect place to explore alone admiring the true Egyptian culture that has lasted hundred years.
If you are tired and need some rest, you can stop at any coffee shop located along the street to drink a cup of strong Egyptian coffee, or to try to more exotic taste of coffee. If you want to drink some true Arabic coffee or tea, stop by the old Arabic coffee shop, opened since 1773.
