The New Library of Alexandria is considered a library and a cultural center. Approximately 8 million books are available in Arabic, English and French. There is also a central reading hall which extends over 20,000 square metres. The library also features a conference centre, a multimedia area, four museums, art galleries for time-limited exhibitions and 15 permanent exhibitions. In addition, there is a planetarium and a manuscript restoration lab.

The entire outside area is made of Aswan granite stone with folded characters from various scripts. The library site was not accidentally selected. It was chosen to be near the old library which was destroyed by Julius Cæsar in 48 BC. It was a great loss of culture and knowledge.

The reason behind the construction of the new library was to restore our valuable loss.
